Upton Park Development
The East Stand extension was agreed years ago by Newham Council. The stand would've incorporated a tunnel to accommodate the bus garage. West Ham had this permssion years ago.
David Gold is talking shit.
Absolute shit.
Upton Park capacity would've been 42k.
It was all agreed.

You miss the point.

60,000 day trippers in Yummy Mummy Stratford buying half and half scarves and West Ham dildos with Payet's face on the helmet are a much better business proposition than lots of fat, ugly thicko's getting pissed up and fighting in a shithole like Upton Park.

It's just good business sense.

No chance. Priory Road is the only access road for the residents on William Morley Close. Even with the bus garage out of action it would have been impossible to turn the East side into a building site.

those sillicone butlers sullys got at home are made of old leftover dildo stock. believe it.

Re: Upton Park Development
One of my best mates family has lived on William morely close their whole life and I know the area well. Priory road could have been closed entirely and the access to the estate would have always been posible via reopening the end redclyffe road. The issue would have been 'right to light' for te flats behind if anything.

Anyway it matters as much as a piece of shit on ones shoe now.

I used to work on the uk government's advertising campaigns and was told by a minister years ago we had permission and the tunnel was mentioned and west ham had the chance to buy the bus garage if they funded another garage somewhere near by

I'm starting a fund to buy the ground back, so if you could send me your contributions to my pay pal account I'll let you know when we hit our target

Re: Upton Park Development
Surely they planned to rebuild the East Stand much bigger. Isn't it why the West Stand was built further back and the pitch moved westwards 20 metres or so to give room for the bigger East Stand.

Not a Nigerian Paypal account by any chance?

Re: Upton Park Development
64 - yes it was to be bigger than it now, or rather was. Hence the lift to 42k.

I remember it clearly, it would have run at the approxomate height of the north and south banks with the corners filled to accommodate any differential

It also came down to the pitchside, thus taking up the gap

Would have been a wonderful place, better still if they every rebuilt the Rio which was always in my mind a missed opportunity and a compromise

All academic now though, sadly

Also once safe standing is reintroduced the BML / TBL capacity COULD have increased.

Yeah, I'd really have enjoyed having one of the smallest PL grounds in London.

Great idea.

Re: Upton Park Development
As thats what its all about isnt it. Having thr biggest ground. Fuck the fact there are loads of empty seats, and some seats with supporters of other teams in them.

Some people are so far up the owners arse its unreal

Penners

Yep, afraid so

The maths would be interesting too

66k cheap seats against 42k expensive seats - what with us taking all the revenue from pies and naming rights

As said though, water under the sad old bridge

Re: Upton Park Development
I wish Beardy would stop all this bullshit about how we have to move to compete. We did fine last season, and as said below we could keep all naming rights etc.

Newcastle have a big ground, so do Leeds. I'm assuming they're in the champions league this league?

harold 12:18 Sun Sep 25
Re: Upton Park Development
I wonder if rotating the ground through 90ยบ, and shifting towards Green Street was considered, or was even an option.

goose 12:19 Sun Sep 25
Re: Upton Park Development
No chance Harold, that would have cost money. The Berks aren't interested in that.

I'm talking about before their time.
